General Conference Information
What is the Book Blogger Convention?
The Book Blogger convention is a one day event intended to provide support, instruction, and social time for people who blog about books.
When is the Book Blogger Convention?

What are the hours that the Book Blogger Convention is being held?
Registration begins at 7:30 am and conference sessions will begin promptly at 9AM. We will conclude at 5pm.

How soon can I register?
You can (and are encouraged) to register as soon as possible. If you register by February 14, 2010 you can even save 25 dollars of the registration fee.
What is the deadline for registration?
To take advantage of the early bird pricing you must register and *pay* by February 14th. Registration will then be extended until May 20th at the non-discounted price of $115. Space is limited, though, so you are encouraged to register early in order to ensure you get your spot.
How do I register?
Register by filling out this registration form.
What is the cost?
$90 if you register and pay before February 14th, $115 after February 14th.
What is included in the price?
The entire day’s programming as well as a continental breakfast and one boxed lunch. Additionally you will be provided a badge to access the exposition floor of BEA. This BEA badge does not provide you access to any of the educational sessions or other events (such as author meals) that require additional fees.
Will I be fed?
Yes, both a light continental breakfast and full lunch will be provided as part of your registration fee.
How can I pay?
With cold hard cash in the form of a check or by paypal. You will receive an invoice after you register.
Is there limited space?
We expect to have plenty of seats available (up to 500) on first come first serve basis. However, register & pay early to secure your spot. If we reach 500 seats, we will happily put your name on a waiting list.
Is my registration fee refundable?
Yes, if for any reason you are unable to attend your fee will be refunded in full.
May I register more than once?
No, only one registration per individual. In other words, don’t try to save seats for your friends. Have them register.
How can I arrange to have my special needs met, such as meal requirements or wheelchair access?
We can accommodate the following special needs:

If you have these or any other special needs, please contact us prior to making your travel arrangements.
Is there a dress code?
Yes. A Team Peeta shirt is required for entrance. People wearing Team Gale shirts will be escorted out of the facility and will not receive a refund! (jk) Please come dressed casually.
Is this affiliated with BEA, and if I register for Book Blogger Convention will access to BEA be included in that registration?
Yes. Your registration fee for the Book Blogger Convention entitles you to a complimentary badge for the exposition floor of Book Expo America. This badge does not, however, provide you access to any of the educational sessions or other events (such as author meals) that require additional fees. Book Blogger Convention paid participant names are collected on a weekly basis and sent to BEA for badge processing. Based on the timing of your payment and submission of that information to BEA we do not guarantee immediate receipt of a BEA badge upon payment.
How do I register for additional BEA events not covered with my complimentary BEA badge?
Once registered for your BEA badge you will receive an e-mail confirmation. You will then be able to go to the Book Expo America website under the confirmation number assigned and make any changes to your registration to include any Special Events you’d like to attend.
May I photograph or videotape keynotes or sessions?
Not without express permission of the organizers of the Book Blogger Convention and panelist/keynote participants.

MTA’s Trip Planner is and excellent resource to use when navigating the city by bus and subway. Simply enter your location and the address to which you are traveling and receive detailed travel information complete with departure and estimated travel times.

We suggest though that if you are attending BEA that you book through their site for discounted rooms.
Is there wireless internet at the Jacob K. Javits Conference Center?
Yes, but each participant will be required to pay their own $45 fee to gain access. We are currently looking at how to go about reserving your access. If interested contact the organizers of the Book Blogger Convention.
How do I find a roommate?
We suggest you ask your fellow book blogging friends who are planning to be at the conference.
I’d like to know who is attending. Is that possible?
Once we receive payment confirmation, we will update an attendees list so you can get to know the bloggers before you arrive.
How can I make sure I receive all updates about the conference?
You can subscribe to the RSS feed in your favorite reader or opt to receive updates by email.

Who’s in charge of this thing in the first place?
We have a committee of bloggers who are collaborating together to ensure that you have the best experience possible. This committee consists of Trish from Hey Lady! Do people who attended Book Expo America last year have any advice for me?
Yes! In fact, we had an entire blog tour that focused on this topic. You will want to visit each post for tips and advice on attending Book Expo America, Book Blogger Convention and New York City.
How can I help you promote the Book Blogger Convention?
Blog about it, tweet about it, tell all your friends about it. If you are in the publishing industry, write articles about it. Get creative! But at the very least, post our Book Blogger Convention graphics on your blogs and websites and link back to this site.

Sponsorship Opportunities
I am interested in sponsorship opportunities, what do I do?
We are seeking sponsorship in three forms:
- Author Reception – We are currently in the process of planning a two hour author reception to be held Thursday, May 27th from 4-6pm at the Jacob K. Javits Conference Center. Do you have an author or authors you’d like to send? Perhaps you want to donate a plate of cookies or some drinks?
- Silent Auction – Prior to BBC we’ll be holding an online silent auction with all proceeds going to the charity First Book. We’re looking for all sorts of goodies to put on the block!
- Swag Bags – Help us fill the bags with promotional items or swag.
If I sponsor the Book Blogger Convention, how will I be acknowledged?
On this website, in the Book Blogger Convention program, and during the Welcome speech at the Book Blogger Convention. Contributors will be noted in the following manner:
- Gold = contributed to all three
- Silver = contributed to two
- Bronze = contributed to one
Who may sponsor the Book Blogger Convention?
Authors, bloggers, librarians, public relations and members of the publishing industry everywhere are graciously and thankfully welcomed to offer their services and participation.

Author & Blogger Reception
What is the author and blogger reception?
The reception is an opportunity for authors, bloggers, and publishing professionals to meet and mingle in a more intimate setting.
When is the reception?
The reception is on Thursday, May 27th from 4pm to 6pm.
Where is the reception?
The reception will be held at the Javits center in a yet to be announced location.
Who can attend the reception?
Anyone! You do not have to be registered to attend the Book Blogger Convention the day following.
What is the cost to attend the reception?
If you are registered to attend the Book Blogger Convention the following day, there is no cost to attend the reception. Otherwise, the cost is $20.
Is there a cost if I am registered for the Book Blogger Convention?
Is there a cost if I am registered for Book Expo America but NOT the Book Blogger Convention?
Do authors that would like to attend have to pay the entry fee?
If they are not registered for the Book Blogger Convention, then yes.
Do I need to be registered with Book Expo America to gain entry to the Javits Center and your reception?
No you don’t! We’ll provide attendees with instructions on how to access without problem.
How do I register to attend?
By filling out this registration form. You will then be sent an invoice to pay either by check or PayPal.
Can I register and pay at the door?
Yes, but we highly recommend to register in advance so we can get an accurate head count. Otherwise, we will be taking cash only at the door.
Can I contribute to the reception?
Yes, if you are an author, we would love to have you. If you represent any authors, we would love to have you send them. How about help in covering catering costs? Please contact us via email for details.

I am an author who a couple of days ago electronically sent in my application to attend the blog-author cocktail event on the 27th. Haven’t yet received a payment notification, which I assumed would come relatively quickly via email. How long does it take to get the “confirmation” that my application was received and I didn’t do some sort of IT booboo?

How do we get our badge info? I’m pretty sure I never received a confirmation email with that info.
And then will we just pick it up the first day we attend BEA at the BEA registration desk/area?
This is my first time at BEA, and I’m thrilled about the bigness of all of it, but looking forward to the smaller book blogger community at Book Blogger Con as well. Thank you SO much for organizing it.

If I am attending the author-blogger reception, as an author, can I meet someone earlier at the BEA on the same day? Or DO i have to get some other ticket? Supposed to attend a meeting at a BEA stall at 3pm, and wonder if the 4pm ticket to the reception is enough to get me through the BEA doors.

I wanted to respond to your comment regarding the BEA access. Paying the $20 entrance fee to the Blogger/Author reception will not gain you entrance to the exhibits at BEA itself. Rather paying the $115 registration fee for the Book Blogger Convention which will be held all day on Friday, will come with a BEA pass. Registration for the Book Blogger Convention closes today, May 32rd.

So, is this going to be in NY every year or will it be branching out to be more accessible to the rest of the country? I’d love to go, but I live in Vegas, it is just too expensive to travel that far for a convention, ya know?

I’m in a group blog Jungle Red (www.jungleredwriters.com) with 5 other authors. We – mostly – blog about writing and have lots of writer guests. Can authors attend the BBC? I live in NYC and it sounds fun and informative.
