I’m a teenager. Can I attend?
The Book Blogger Convention adheres to Book Expo America’s policy on age restrictions for participants. This policy (stated on all registration materials) states:
“Anyone under the age of 18 (minors and infants) will only be permitted to register to attend if accompanied by a registered industry professional.”
We have been advised that parental supervision/chaperoning is not an option. Thos uner the age of 18 must be in the presence of an industry professional at all times.
How soon can I register?
Registration for the 2012 Book Blogger Convention is being conducted directly through Book Expo America and is will be open as in early 2012. We will provide access to Book Expo America’s Registration Page to sign up upon availability.
What is the deadline for registration?
To take advantage of the $xxx early bird pricing you must register by May XX, 2012. Registration after May XX or onsite then become the non-discounted price of $XXX.

The BBC reception, the entire day’s programming, as well as a continental breakfast and one boxed lunch. Additionally, you will be provided a badge to access the exposition floor of BEA. This BEA badge does not provide you access to any of the educational sessions or other events (such as author meals) that require additional fees.
How are those funds disbursed?
Your registration fee is used to pay for rental fees for the facilities, food & beverage at the reception and the convention, various marketing materials (ie: totebag, pens, programs, badges, etc), salary and expenses for the organizers.
Will I be fed?
Yes, both a light continental breakfast and full lunch will be provided as part of your registration fee.
How can I pay?
The registration form requires use of a credit card. We also believe that you are able to register via telephone at 800-840-5614.
Is my registration fee refundable?
Because BBC registration is being conducted through BEA we are obligated to adhere to their strict no refund policy (they do however allow for transfer of registrations if you want to do so). We are working diligently to arrange for BBC’s prior policy of a full refund but it is not yet currently available. If you are concerned about this policy, our advice is to wait to register until you are either sure you will be able to attend or until we are able to re-adopt our full refund policy.
May I register more than once?
No, only one registration per individual. In other words, don’t try to save seats for your friends. Have them register.
How can I arrange to have my special needs met, such as meal requirements or wheelchair access?
We can accommodate the following special needs:
- Dietary Restrictions
- Wheelchair Access
If you have these or any other special needs, please contact us prior to making your travel arrangements.
Is there a dress code?
We encourage you to wear something you’ll be comfortable in.
Is this affiliated with BEA, and if I register for Book Blogger Convention will access to BEA be included in that registration?
Yes. Your registration fee for the Book Blogger Convention entitles you to a complimentary badge for the exposition floor of Book Expo America. This badge does not, however, provide you access to any of the educational sessions or other events (such as author meals) that require additional fees.
How do I register for additional BEA events not covered with my complimentary BEA badge?

Hi,
I’m in a group blog Jungle Red (www.jungleredwriters.com) with 5 other authors. We – mostly – blog about writing and have lots of writer guests. Can authors attend the BBC? I live in NYC and it sounds fun and informative.
Cheers,
Rosemary
Rosemary, authors are more than welcome to attend BBC.
just to clarify, does the complimentary badge for BEA give you the same access as a regular or press badge (minus the special events that require tickets)?
Yes it does
Will this be a yearly event? I’d love to go but will need a year or two to save up the money.
Callista, we’re hoping it will be a yearly event. That is certainly our intention.
I just want to say that I love the Team Peeta, Team Gale dress code joke. Very, very cute!
Stacy and I are discussing if the dad’s can handle the kids the last few days of school and work while we take a fun trip. We would love to meet everyone!
I am an author who a couple of days ago electronically sent in my application to attend the blog-author cocktail event on the 27th. Haven’t yet received a payment notification, which I assumed would come relatively quickly via email. How long does it take to get the “confirmation” that my application was received and I didn’t do some sort of IT booboo?
Richard, an invoice for your registration was just sent this morning. You should see it in your inbox as we speak
How do we get our badge info? I’m pretty sure I never received a confirmation email with that info.
And then will we just pick it up the first day we attend BEA at the BEA registration desk/area?
This is my first time at BEA, and I’m thrilled about the bigness of all of it, but looking forward to the smaller book blogger community at Book Blogger Con as well. Thank you SO much for organizing it.
It’s really cool that you all are doing this!
If I am attending the author-blogger reception, as an author, can I meet someone earlier at the BEA on the same day? Or DO i have to get some other ticket? Supposed to attend a meeting at a BEA stall at 3pm, and wonder if the 4pm ticket to the reception is enough to get me through the BEA doors.
Ummm….never mind. See you have this question answered already – ticket comes with complimentary BEA entrance pass.
I wanted to respond to your comment regarding the BEA access. Paying the $20 entrance fee to the Blogger/Author reception will not gain you entrance to the exhibits at BEA itself. Rather paying the $115 registration fee for the Book Blogger Convention which will be held all day on Friday, will come with a BEA pass. Registration for the Book Blogger Convention closes today, May 32rd.
Ewwww. Thanks for clarification. What is lowest lower cost way to enter? What will BEA day pass cost? Must get in for 3pm meeting. Frustrating to pay $115 extra to show up an hour earlier for a meeting. Best,R

So, is this going to be in NY every year or will it be branching out to be more accessible to the rest of the country? I’d love to go, but I live in Vegas, it is just too expensive to travel that far for a convention, ya know?
Can we attend if we are just starting a book blog?
Will the conventions always be held in NYC? I have absolutely zero interest in going to NY – would love to participate – but you need to consider a place between the coasts or something! (Lincoln NE is about midway, according to meetways.com!)

I am an author and a book blogger. How do I register for the author/blogger mixer? Which one should I attend as? Is there a dress code for that? (kidding) Seriously, I’d like to attend the mixer. How do I register?

I would love to attend the author/blogger reception. Can’t wait for further information.
Just found out about this great event. I already have a BEA badge. Can I register day of to attend the sessions on Friday? Thank you!
Leigh, you can register for BBC through BEA at http://www.bookexpoamerica.com. We will also be happy to register you on site Friday morning. We do not have the ability to process credit cards and don’t take checks so should you choose that route please be sure to bring cash to pay the $135 registration fee.
Thank you.
Hi! I’m a bit last minute but I’d like to attend both BEA and BBC. It looks like when paying for BBC it only covers the last day of BEA. What about the other days of the exp? Would we have to pay an extra fee?
Keyona,
Once registered you will have access to all days of BEA not just starting Thursday. Thursday evening is when BBC starts — we have our reception from 3-5 — and then all day Friday is the convention itself. But you do receive a full access badge to the BEA Expo floor for all days as part of registration. If you should have any additional questions please reach out to us via email at bookbloggercon[at]gmail[dot]com.
The author and blogger reception sounds great, and I’d love to attend. What a delight that it’s free, but even so, will I need to register in any way or can I just show up with a smile? (I am registered for neither BEA nor BBC.) Thanks for your help. JB
Jane, you need to be a registered participant of either BEA or BBC. The reception is public but only in the sense that you are in some way registered for one of the conferences.
Can you kindly tell me until what hour in the morning does an attendee can register on-site paying in cash?
Marimer,
You are able to register on site (paying in cash only) tomorrow between 7:15-8:45am. Thank you.
Does the BEA pass included with registration get you into all 3 days of BEA or just one? If it is only the one, is there a way to add on the extra days without buying a whole separate pass?
Elle, it should get you into all 3 days!
